Optimize Your Health: Join Free Living Co's Wellness Revolution in 2025

Happy New Year!  I hope this article finds you in the afterglow of love and connection from the holidays, and looking forward to a health-full New Year. 

Health for many becomes the forefront of New Years resolutions.  And, IMO, we are at such an exciting time in health and wellness.  You may have read about my pivots, plot-twists, and epic fails last week, well I think healthcare is finally going through something similar on a much grander scale.  You see the way our system is built, we all go on living our lives eating what the processed food and agriculture industries puts in front of us hustle and bustle about our busy lives, maybe getting in a workout here and there, maybe not, barely pausing to take a breath until BOOM, CRASH, HALT we are sick and need a remedy.  The healthcare system does it's best to mitigate symptoms with drugs and interventions. 

I worked in healthcare for 17 years so I can confidently and without hesitation say that healthcare is essential for certain (many) health issues.  I dislocated my hip 6 years ago and there was absolutely no getting out of that debacle without the aid of lots of drugs and skilled medical practitioners to pop-her back into socket and then rehab me back to health.  There are lifesaving interventions like chemo, radiation, surgery and more exciting advances like immunotherapy for diseases like cancer.  There are complicated deliveries that only a doctor in a hospital with life saving devices could save mom & baby.  And on and on. Healthcare is an incredible field of science, technology, and skill that saves lives every day.

There are some areas IMO where healthcare may fall short.  Bandaids are placed on symptoms rather than the exploration of a root cause which might be curable more healthfully and sustainably with lifestyle adjustments.  While I'll forever be excited and thrilled about the advances of healthcare I'm really optimistic about the advances in holistic wellness.  Number 1 the fact that Americans are starting to care enough to search for answers BEFORE they get sick and need the bandaid of drug, surgical, or other interventions.  2, there are some really, really smart pro-science experts, many of whom were traditionally trained practitioners, talking loud & publicly about HOW to prevent illness, HOW to live a long life, HOW to remain healthy & active up until it's time to rest our body for good.  Its super duper exciting for someone 🙋‍♀️ who wants to avoid the healthcare system indefinitely, and I think my subset is a growing minority.

How it works

We will pick a podcast and a book on a common theme each month to listen, read, digest, on our own, followed by a group discussion where we can build in some accountability.  Listen & read what you have time for and what interests you and join when you can.  I'll offer up an executive summary of each media resource each month so even if you don't have time to listen or read you can certainly still participate!  There is NO COST to join, this is a community building, free living effort to help you get healthy and well with friends.
