Hold the mala in one hand and let it drape across your fingers. Starting at the bead beside the carved bone guru bead, use your thumb and middle finger to move one bead at a time as you breathe slowly or repeat a mantra or intention. Continue around all the beads until you return to the guru bead, then reverse direction rather than crossing over it. Between practices, wear it as a necklace or wrapped as a multi-wrap bracelet to keep your intention close. To protect the natural stones and stretch cord, keep it away from water, lotions, and perfume, and remove it before showering or swimming.
