Instructions for use
Find a comfortable seat with your spine tall and take a few centering breaths. Hold the mala in one hand, draped over your middle finger, and begin at the larger guru bead. Using your thumb, move one bead toward you at a time as you repeat your mantra or intention, continuing around all 108 beads until you return to the guru bead. To keep going, simply reverse direction rather than crossing the guru bead. Between practices, wear it as a necklace or wrap it as a bracelet to keep your intention close. Refresh it now and then by resting it in moonlight or near a piece of selenite.

Frequently asked questions
What is a mala and how do I use it?
A mala is a strand of 108 beads used for meditation and intention-setting. Hold it draped over your middle finger, start at the larger guru bead, and move one bead at a time with your thumb as you repeat a mantra or breathe — when you reach the guru bead again, reverse direction rather than crossing it.
What stones is the Shake it Up Mala made from?
It's hand-knotted with matte onyx, blue sky jasper, and tiger eye, finished with brass guru and accent beads. The stones are chosen for strength and confidence (onyx), tranquility and courage (jasper), and passion and good fortune (tiger eye).
How long is it, and can I wear it as a bracelet?
Yes — it measures about 36 inches, so you can wear it long as a necklace or wrap it several times as a bracelet. It's strung on durable stretch cord for easy on-and-off.
Is it handmade, and does it come ready to gift?
It's hand-knotted by hand in Scottsdale, Arizona, and arrives in a linen pouch with stone meaning cards — so it's gift-ready right out of the box.
How do I care for my mala?
Keep it away from water, lotion, and perfume to protect the natural stones and cord, and remove it before showering or swimming. To refresh it, rest it in moonlight or near a piece of selenite.
